| There was not a day that passed that Mathias wasn't worrying about his beloved Elisabetha. It would affect him worse in the night, when his mind wasn't consumed in the tactics of war. He would dream horrendous nightmares where Elisabetha would die, her screams of pain echoing within his mind and causing him to awaken drenched in sweat. Their unborn child would be lost in each one of those dreams or, would be born without a cry escaping his lips. It brought great terror into the Alchemist's heart, causing him to avoid sleep altogether in fear that the nightmares would return and become his reality. He didn't want to think that his dreams were a truth that he was trying to avoid or a future that was steadily approaching. He prayed that his dreams were nothing more than a false reality that the War was causing him. He prayed that when he returned home that Elisabetha would be well, greeting him with that lovely smile of hers while holding a small bundle within her arms that was his baby. That thought was the only comfort he got as he awoke that morning and readied himself for his return to Wallachia.
However, the courier would come by with the daily mail and bring news that Mathias dreaded to hear. He tore open the letter from Aleksander, hoping that he had nothing more to say that happy news that Elisabetha had birthed a beautiful child and that she had recovered. What he read instead made his heart sunk as he read the contents over and over again. Elisabetha had gotten worse and Mathias was requested to return as soon as he was able as it was feared that his beloved might not make it. Silent tears pricked his eyes as he turned his back away from his comrades as he placed the letter upon the war table and tried to compose himself. Aleksander had said he was trying to find a cure for her but; the boy would need his help and manpower to get to his angel as soon as possible. He needed to return and it needed to be swiftly. "We need to return now." He said, looking to Feliks solemnly as he was able to keep the tears away before he looked to Leon as he quickly moved upon his horse before pressing his heel against the horse and riding his horse quickly ahead of Leon without another word. He would not waste no more dallying, Elisabetha needed him.
~
Walter smiled as the door opened and he was greeted with the smiling face of Sara and her regal father. The father had been so easy to charm to agree with what he desired for in that radiant beauty inside; he only hoped the father’s words would be enough to persuade Sara into accepting his hand and forgetting about that hunter who has been destroying his fellow vampires in that crusade of his. He felt each and every death, his fledglings falling to Leon’s whip and it made his fury for the man quell and burst in his dark heart. He wanted revenge and with his attraction to the man’s beautiful betrothed, he knew of the perfect way to do so. He would sweep Sara off her feet and take his sweet wife right from under his nose. He smiles at the thought and as he looked the beauty over as she stood before him.
“As it is you, my lady.” He purred with a sweet smile as he reached his hand out, grasping her own lithe one, and placed a friendly kiss upon her palm. “I simply wanted to take you for a walk and speak to you alone. It’s quite important but, it’s a beautiful day for us to enjoy the sun’s rays upon our skin.” He purred out, smiling as he awaited her answer.

| Vasilisa rose quickly from her cushioned seat when Elisabetha dared to sit up; her heart cried out for her daughter in law when she cried out in pain before coughing violently. "Elisabetha!" She shouts placing her hands upon her shoulders. "Elisabetha! You must lie down, you must rest!" She pleads to the young woman with a frown. What was happening. Why was this happening? What possible omen could be causing her daughter in law's ailment. It had come far too quickly. Had she been attacked on her way home? The powerful alchemist glances over Elisabetha's neck gently. She found no bite marks. Vasilisa pushes the young woman into a lying place. Her bright hues began to search for any signs of what could be causing her harm. What she cursed? Was someone trying to harm Elisabetha to get at Mathias?
Vasilisa runs her fingers through her midnight locks as she looks to her reflection. She wore a grim expression on her face. The woman knew full well that there were many who could benefit with the fall of her son. The woman purses her lips as she turns to avert her gaze. Her hands sliding over her own womb. Was this her doing? Did she truly bring about a curse to this world? Her selfish nature had caused her to ignore the pleas from the men of long ago. She closes her eyes; the memory crisp in her mind.
The head of clergymen stepped forward; great concern etched into his features as he looked to the pregnant noblewoman. She sat in her chair by the window; she was staring at the scenery below. It was such a beautiful scene. She had retreated from her village to one of her other castles far away. She felt the need to get away. Especially when many were questioning her son's parentage. They were calling her the devil's bride. Her eyes remained fixated on the before gardens below. Vasilisa leans her cheek into the palm of her head. She wondered what He was doing right now? The bastard. He had married into her family by her father's decree. Her father wanted her to marry another alchemist for the sake of the line. Begged her husband to take the Cronqvist name. But it was not long after they married that he began to enjoy himself elsewhere. Reluctantly she had done the same. But she was certain her son was indeed her husband's. He had been the last man to be intimate with her.
The young woman glances towards the three men. They had sought her out personally. Claimed it was a matter of grave importance. "What is it you wish to speak to me about?" She inquires an ebony brow rising slightly. The head of the clergymen clears his throat and began to speak. "Milady. The matter is about the child you carry. You musn't bear this child. He will bring a reign of terror and darkness to humanity! Lady Cronqvist I implore you; let us rid you of this cursed child!" He exhales to her; the woman looked back to the scenery out her window. "I refuse." she replies simply; what a ridiculous notion these men were proclaiming. She had longed for this child; waited two whole years to finally conceive a child with her adulterous husband. No child in the world was a damned child. "Lady Cronqvist! If you refuse you are damning this world! Your son! Your son is going to bring this world into darkness! He is the antichrist!" Another man shouts rising to this feet as he grew upset.
Frost blue hues twist towards the man that spoke oh so out of line. The antichrist? That was quite the accusation he was stating to her now. He was claiming that the child she was carrying was the antichrist? "Leave. All of you. Remove yourself from my sight immediately. My son is no antichrist! Nor will he ever be. You are diluted for thinking such things. Now get out!" She hisses rising in her anger; the clergymen murmured amongst themselves before cursing her. Reluctantly they left leaving the young mother to be alone to her thoughts. She rubs her womb gently. "It's alright Mathias. You are no antichrist. You're the exact opposite you will be bring this world into enlightenment" She exhales a smiling coming to her pale lips.
Vasilisa looks over to where Elisabetha now laid tears stinging her own eyes; desperate for rest. Desperate for her son, what if this was.... No, no she could not think like that. Vasilisa approaches Elisabetha tears stinging her azure hues. "Elisabetha. I swear to you; you will live. You will be alright. You and the baby." She whispers caressing her cheek gently; the tears streaming down the woman's cheeks.
-----
Miriam's hands place themselves upon Aleksander's shoulders. An idea had come to her mind. It was dangerous. But perhaps it could work to their favor. "Aleksander! Aleksander! I want you to tweak the Elixir you made for me! Use the components. Perhaps we can find the cure through that means?" She gasps out to him with the tears stinging her eyes. Her eyes were swollen and red from crying; she was so exhausted. Vasilisa had practically kicked Miriam out of the room; Miriam collapses against Aleksander breaking down once again. "Aleksander..... She can't die.... Please don't let her die!"
-----
Sara knew she could not refuse ultimately; she could only wonder how she got herself into such a possible predicament. Had she really been that misleading to the Lord? Whilst he's come to haunt her mind in ways a man should not when he isn't a betrothed made her feel uncomfortable. She was Leon's betrothed. Not Walter's. And she missed him terribly; it was beginning to show. Especially with Elisabetha being so ill now. She wanted him to hold her and tell her everything will be alright. She places her hand into Walter's gently. "Of course. Perhaps the sun will do me good. I haven't been feeling myself recently." She whispers to the red haired male allowing him to escort her from the foyer.
Her father followed the pair to the door allowing Walter to lead her away. As the pair strolled away from her home she began to wonder if she was falling for Walter. Was she? She shouldn't be. She places a hand to her chest. She looks up to the red haired male; she was overthinking things. Brooding. Moping! Things a lady should not do. She needed to remove herself from the melancholy that she was in. "What is it you wished to discuss with me Walter?" She inquires curiously as they were now in the privacy of one of the fields down by a river. A lovely scenery. Something she had come to enjoy. She looks into his garnet hues awaiting him for him to speak his mind and feelings to her. Whatever they may be. | |

| Elisabetha tried to will herself to stay awake. How long would it be until her beloved Mathias returned home? By nightfall? At Dawn? Days and nights seemed to blur into each other now. Her mind couldn’t even tell at this moment whether or not she had missed the Holy Day prayers again. Vasilisa had been crying. She had brought her second mother figure to tears. Why was this happening to her? Where was her husband? If she died, would God in Heaven spare her baby? Should they call upon the clergymen to see if a demon had attacked her in her sleep and that was why she had fallen ill to begin with?
This was not at all how she had imagined her life to be. She wanted to be a doting and devoted wife to Lord Cronqvist. To fill his life with love and compassion. She wanted to be waiting for him at home everyday, to tell him of the daily events of the household as she doted upon him. She wanted little ones, that her beloved Mathias would dote upon. A son or two to carry on his name and craft. A daughter for Elisabetha to dress and take care of, until Mathias found a suitable groom for her.
She wanted her skin to be clear of chills and tremors. She wished for her chest to stop aching at all times. She wished that her hands and sleeves had not been constantly bloodied by her coughing fits. She wanted her skin to return from being pale and cold, back to warm and full of life.
She had to recover. So Mathias could arrive home to her waiting arms. Her warm and soft waiting arms.
------- Aleksander dropped his handiwork at Miriam’s suggestion. The Elixir had not been fully completed yet. But it might be one of the only things he hasn’t tested yet. He wished he could take Miriam into his arms. To hold her and kiss her tears away. To soothe her to rest, telling her how he would save Lady Cronqvist. But he couldn’t lie to Miriam. Quite frankly, Aleksander wasn’t sure if the elixir would save His Lord’s wife. But he would try. His tongue was parched and his eyes watered. He had spent all his time in the lab experimenting for cures. He had rarely eaten or drunk anything in days, and his body was starting to rebel against him. ”M...Miriam… I hate to ask… But could you perhaps… fetch me some water? My mouth is dry and my head is spinning…” He said out quietly, his voice breaking once or twice in his phrase.
------ Leon watched his best friend ride ahead with a feeling of sadness plaguing his heart. He felt terrible for Mathias. The Lady Elisabetha had quickly become Mathias’s world and it pained the young Crusader down to his core to see his friend hurting so deeply. He could only imagine the grief that had stricken Leon’s own Sara. She and Lady Elisabetha had been close for many years. When Leon returned home, he would have to go to Sara and comfort her of any tears.

| “I wouldn’t think you would be.” He commented, thinking about the latest gossip that has been whispered between the villagers and nobles. They spoke of Lady Cronqvist’s current conditions and of how worse it has become. They feared a plague had been brought upon them by the Lady and some have reacted rather brutish about such an idea; while others believed that Lord Cronqvist had poisoned his wife for many ridiculous reasons that sounded absurd to Walter. Mortals will forever be assuming the worse in behaviors, despite not actual knowing the whole story. It made them look foolish and naïve, something that Walter knew would be their undoing if their fears sparked into an inferno. Walter was intrigued to see how this would play out considering the fact that his eavesdropping upon a few clergymen has brought to light another plot twist. Elisabetha had aided a witch, protected her from a fateful burning and prevented the church from performing its “holy cleansing” of her mortal soul. Despite this having happened several months ago, it seemed the Church was still upset in this and perhaps, they were the cause of the horrendous rumors Walter has been hearing lately. Nevertheless, he showed his gravest off condolescenes to Sara. “I heard about Lady Cronqvist’s condition from fellow nobles. I pray for her recovery.”
Walter would take her to a private field by a river and he would turn to Sara as she inquired to him what she wished to discuss with him. “Over this course of time we have been talking with one another I have started to have feelings for you that have gone farther than mere friendship.” He commented, moving one of his gloved hands up to caress Sara’s cheek lightly, a soft smile pursing his lips as he stared at her. “And I believe I am not the only one observing this.” He commented as he looked upon her before he leaned in and took her lips into a soft kiss.

| The brunette sat in the foyer unable to move for shock had begun to set in; Walter had confessed his feelings for her. And with no word from Leon in the past few months; her father was convinced he had died in the holy war and that the church had yet to send a letter giving their condolences to the young bride to be. Feeling that she should choose a more suitable suitor. He had proposed the idea that she take Walter for a husband. Sara had just simply gone into shock; she had not rejected to the man's confession and when he had kissed her. She nearly caved to his touch; her knees had become weakened and she for a very brief moment returned the affection. That was until she caught herself. The moment had so quickly become a blur; he brought her home not too long after and began discussing things with her father. She had no say; her father seemed so convinced that this was so much better for her. During the conversation she began to wonder and worry why she had been dreaming about Walter in such a manner. She was second guessing herself now. Questioning her own heart and its desires. However an agreement had been made between the two males; and only when the church send the letter of condolences to Sara in regards to Leon's death would her current engagement be off. And if he was not deceased and returned; her father would discuss the proposition of calling off the wedding with Belmont in favor of Lord Bernhard. Who had much more to offer Count Trantoul's daughter than a mere Baron.
Sara said her brief goodbye to the Lord as he stood in the doorway, his hand cupping her cheek gently as he kissed her forehead before departing from the Trantoul Manor. Her father gently guided her back inside for a moment closing the door behind him. A bright smile on his face as he looks to his beloved child; he was certain she'd be happier with Walter than Leon. And from what he saw that she truly returned the red haired male's feelings. Sara closes her eyes for a moment trying to capture her bearings; silently the minutes passed before there came a knock at her door. Her heart told her she should answer it; yet the servant had already beat her to it. Cerulean gems grew wide as she took in the beautiful crusader. Leon. It was Leon. God had sent him back to her. "L-Leon?!" She cries out before tackling the man to the ground engulfing him in an tearful embrace. "You're home! By god you're home! Leon, Oh Leon I've missed you!" She cries the tears streaming down her cheeks as she clung to her betrothed; almost fearing this was a dream and when she'd wake he'd be gone from her embrace.
----
Both Aleksander and Miriam had passed out after exhaustion not too long after they fed; they were intertwined in one another's arms. Lilac hues pull themselves open as Miriam began to stir; she heard commotion from above. As she focused she could hear them; the other servants exclaiming the master had returned. Lord Cronqvist was home. He would be going to her side. Miriam closes her eyes once more nuzzling into her beloved's shoulder. He needed rest; he could not aid the Lady if he wasn't in his best condition. She slowly allow her fingers to trace upward on his spine towards his shoulder where she grips him gently. "Aleksander." she whispers his name burying her face into his chest. ----
Vasilisa sat at her daughter in law's side brushing back the locks behind her ears; she jumped to her feet twisting to look upon her son as he stormed into the bed chambers. Instinctively she embraced him holding him tightly. "Thank the gods you are home!" She exhales kissing his forehead. "We've been doing everything we can for her! But i fear she may not make it to the next full moon!" She breathes; she feared her daughter in law and grandchild would pass before the next month. She could only hope her son had something in his mind and heart he could do for his wife. She moved aside quickly allowing him access to his wife.
----
Hazel hues shot open as the brunette took in his surroundings; where was he? All he could see was cobblestone; and candlelight. Beneath his bare back he felt the soft satin sheets; the man's head was pounding and his mouth felt so very dry. He closes his eyes trying to grasp the situation; he... He had died. Died protecting Mathias from one of those.... damned creatures. It had bit him and his world had gone black. "Good to see you're awake~ We've been eager to have you join us." Purrs a voice; he tilts his head to the side to take in the silver haired creature and his brethren. "Y-You...." He groans as Seraph approached them with a fanged grin; Bruno studied the other's form. He was too fair for his taste. Wouldn't be able to handle his mounting. But the auburn male behind him perhaps. "What did you do to me?" He demands starting to push himself; he forced himself into a sitting position. His nostrils flared as he began to smell things; things far away. His senses. They were heightened. He turns to meet Seraph's crimson gaze. "You're one of us now. It's time you had a drink our new dear brother." He exhales revealing his fangs; Bruno felt a knot form in the pit of his stomach. He was a monster..... Like these creatures... He closes his eyes; he was not one for dwelling on the past. What's done is done. He would just have to adjust to his new life. "What is it you creatures drink to quench this thirst?" "Come, we'll show you won't we Cezarian. Aaron." Seraph exclaims as he pulls Bruno to his feet. - | |

| Leon quickened his steps as he approached Trantoul manor. His beloved Sara would be waiting for him. Despite his constant attempts to send her letters, he feared that none of them had reached her eyes. The church was… not fond.. Of Leon’s insistence that the heretics were not the church’s greatest enemy. As he neared the house though, his stomach felt it was turning in knots, as it did at Mathias’ wedding near the red haired stranger. What Leon saw as he neared the house, was what seemed to be the same red head that had danced with his Sara at the wedding. And he was close to her. Had his hands on her. Leon felt disgust and anger fill his heart as the red headed man touched Sara’s forehead with his lips. Fueled by this, his feet flew up the rest of the hill and he knocked on the door, wanting nothing more than Sara’s gentle voice to calm his nerves.
And as he had wished, when he hit the ground before a word to be said, his body softened in her arms. She was truly his saving grace, her gentle voice clouded with such longing tears brought the wetness to his own sapphire eyes. He wrapped her arms around her, having missed her so intensely while he was gone. He held her tightly in his embrace, wishing to prove to her that he was actually here. He wanted nothing more than her for the rest of his days. -------- Aleksander let out a slight mumble at the mention of his name. He was so tired, as if he hadn’t slept for days. Perhaps he had. The days had blurred in his desperation. He needed to get back to finding a cure. He should clean the lab before Lord Cronqvist returned. However, based on what sounded like a stampede upstairs, the latter would have to be done at a different time. His arms lay themselves gently resting on Miriam’s hips, his olive eyes fluttering open straining to adjust to the room beyond the blurry onset of awakening. ”Miriam….” he muttered slowly, laying his lips gently on her hair. He almost let out a gentle grin, but his lips turned solemn once more, ”Miriam… I have to continue working…” a sleepy voice seemed to replace his own. How long had it been since he had left the lab? Had he been doing anything else but working for a cure? What if he had failed? Would Lord Cronqvist dismiss the fledgling alchemist in his grief? Despite the closeness in years, Aleksander saw the Master Alchemist as a sort of parental figure, even though he knew how much of a poor excuse of a man that made Aleksander seem. Lord Cronqvist was so much smarter and more refined that he held such an air of intense nobility, almost teeming on the side of royal, and Aleksander wanted nothing more than his praise and affection. Like an earnest boy trying to impress his father. As wrong as that sounded, Aleksander cared not. --------- Elisabetha whimpered out slightly. Mathias was home. Her love. She heard echoes of her beloved mother-in-law’s cries so close. Vasilisa’s exact words were lost to her. She needed to rest, but she wanted to stand from their bed. To run to her beloved husband and welcome him home. He was safe, and that made Elisabetha swell with joy, even though her chest ached and burned with every breath. ”M…. My.. My L-Love…” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She had prayed for his safety, even as her own health had started to fail her. Her devotion to god had never wavered, even if the darkest corners of her mind begged for a reason why no medicine seemed to do anything for her. She wanted Mathias back at her side, knowing how selfish her desire was, but God had granted her prayers. He was home. Safe and Sound. A weak smile came to her lips, before another violent cough erupted from her lips. She felt both embarrassed and disgusted with herself as blood once more escaped her lips during her cough. She loathed and hated the taste of it by now. Hopefully the cough would end soon. The taste of the blood that came up with the cough made her stomach queasy and twisted. ------------ Cezarian smirked slightly, the claw like nails on his index and thumb rested on either sides of his chin. The Vampire let out a slight chuckle and he reached his cold hand out to the newly turned young man. “We shall quench your thirst, good knight. And now… We hunt.” He said, a slight grin gracing his thin lips. -- Aaron frowned. This man had been a close ally to the future vampire hunter. Being young himself, in comparison to the other two vampires, he knew he had no place at this time to argue. Aaron’s visions were still blurry and he didn’t recognize some of the people he had seen past the blonde knight whose line would endanger their kind. Things were going to turn quickly in the upcoming months. And perhaps, this old friend of the Lionhearted knight would inadvertently bring protection to the small nomadic clan of vampires.

| Sara buried her face deep into his chest as she held him; servants instantly began to murmur among themselves with smiles on their faces as they watched the scene unfold before returning to their work. Sara lifts her gaze to meet his sapphire hues; gently she pulls back to bring them to a sitting position. She cups his face thumbing his cheek gently with happiness dancing around within her heart. "You're really home? Is it for good or just temporarily?" She whispers wondering how long he would be here for. Was a permanent return? Sara glances around before pulling themselves to a standing. "I've missed you...." ----
"You need rest Aleksander. You will not be any good to Lady Elisabetha and Lord Mathias if you too fall ill." She whispers softly thumbing his cheek gently; the young knight's eyes felt heavy still from the tears she had been shedding. She closes her eyes burying herself deeper into his embrace; she inhaled his scent with a small smile pursing to her lips. He smelled nice. Like herbs; she fiddled with his dark locks twining a finger around them. She was so tired; surely their lord would understand. Yet she knew in her heart she should push past exhaustion and meet her lord where his Lady was. She stares into his gems for a long silent moment. "The elixir you've been giving me do you think we can twist it to become a cure for her?" -----
The brown haired male frowned slightly understanding what the auburn male had spoken; he had to hunt for his survival. Gently took the other's hand for sliding out of the bed; he glances over his muscular form searching for any wounds. They had all healed from what it would appear. "And what am I to hunt? What are my abilities? What am I?" "Ugh, honey too many questions and you'll give yourself and us a headache. Let's take it slow shall we?" The silver haired male replies his hips swaying as he walks over to the slightly darkened skin male. He places a hand on Aaron's shoulder before leaning into his ear. "I think he will prove a formidable ally." He purrs licking Aaron's ear slightly. Whilst Seraph preferred young boys with blonde locks and blue hues; he was particularly fond of his little changeling Aaron.

| Leon brought his hand to stroke Sara’s cheek gently. This had been everything he had wished it to be. The thoughts of the stranger flew from his mind. He was home. Back to his Sara’s side. ”Oh my Sara... “ he says, raw emotion filling his voice. He loved her with every fiber of his being. ”I hope it’s for as long as possible. I missed the sound of your voice and the color of your eyes. I’ve missed your cheerful innocence and your gentle touch…” he rants quietly, reaching for her hand with his and bringing her soft knuckle to his lips, gently resting his lips over her hand. He was Home. ------ Aleksander frowned. Miriam was right. He had worked without any needed rest for what felt like forever. Her touch sent a quick rush of a tingling sensation throughout his body. He nodded silently at first to her words. Her idea caused a bit of dread to fill him however. The elixir took so very long to be proved fit for human consumption and now he should find tweaking it a daunting task. Alas, it was one method he had as of yet attempted. ”I shall try,, Miriam….” He said quietly. If this didn’t work, he would have exhausted all ideas and would prove to be at a loss. ------- Aaron looked over the newly changed man a few times. Perhaps Seraph was right. Aaron would have to give this man a chance to protect them, that was most certain. And Aaron had known for quite a long time not to question Seraph or Cezarian’s motives. They had been around much longer than he and knew to workings and fine lines of the world better than most.

| Mathias was quick to arrive to Castle Cronqvist, hand off his steer to the horse handler, and quickly move his legs across the courtyard into the front doors. He ignored his servants gasps and their 'welcome backs'. He ignored anything and everything that wasn't his Elisabetha and his mother, whom he knew was giving all of her heart to her daughter-in-law. She adored Elisabetha and that had pleased the Master Alchemist greatly because not many got his mother's adoration much like Elisabetha had. Mathias moved passed the servants, stomping his way quickly upstairs and into the couple's shared bedroom. He slammed the door open and his eyes rested upon his beloved Elisabetha. There was a deathly pallor to her skin and her once bright blue hues were dulled into a sickly and hazy gray.
She had no life to her and it broke Mathias' heart as he stepped forward, seeing his mother rise and embrace him into a strong hold. At that moment, he needed this. He needed his precious mother's love to give him strength because he feared if he remained standing there any longer, his knees would buckle underneath him and he would fall. To see Elisabetha so weak, so vunerable, it made him weak and helpless. She was his best friend and his precious light, a light that was flickering away as the minutes turned to hours. Without her.... He didn't know what would become of him. He would have never gotten out of the dark rut that his childhood without her and he feared that lingering darkness would take advantage over the weaknesses of grief and consume his heart. He didn't want that to come to pass and he definitely did not want to lose his best friend to disease. This determination gave him strength he needed for Elisabetha and he looked to his mother, determination glistening in those icy hues.
"She will make it, Mother." He said as he looked to her, shaking his head as he looked his mother's eyes. "I will make sure of this!" He said to her as he glanced to Elisabetha as she uttered such heartwrenching words towards him. He removed himself from Elisabetha as he moved to his kneels and reached his hand out to grasp her hand. He heard the royal doctor gasp as he touched her before he uttered. "Lord Cronqvist, she is deathly ill and very possibly contagious... I must advise you to-" He began before Mathias narrowed a terrifiing glare upon the man. "I will touch my wife! You will not tell me what I will or will not do in MY home!" He yelled, seeing the doctor nod his head as he backed off and allowed the Alchemist do what he wished. Mathias looked back at Elisabetha as he grasped her hand firmly, looking to her eyes as he spoke to her. "I'll work to see you smile that bright smile again. I'll bring life back into those cheeks, I promise." He said to her, smiling as his heart swelled with hope. "I'll pour my love and my heart into millions of drafts until I can see you well again. Death will not win in this fight. This I swear to you." He purred to her as he remained holding her hand as he gazed upon her. "I missed you so. I should have never left you. I should have stayed and damn the Crusade. You deserved my attention more than those blasphemous fools...." | |

| "Come with me to my chambers Leon. I wish to speak to you in privacy; I wish to gift something to you. But my father; he's changed." Sara breathes clasping his hand as she pulls him inside the Trantoul manor; she shushes a few of the servants leading her beloved to her bedchambers. Gently the door closes to her bedchambers behind the pair; she approaches the white and red jacket she had made for her beloved. "This is my wedding gift to you Leon." She whispers turning to face him holding it out to him. "I have clung to it for many months; worked on it and I have wept into its fabric. It's has everything I have ever felt for you sewn into it. I love you Leon Belmont; I love you so much I know I will love you into the next life. Leon, I have prayed to the lord that for every life I live that he will guide me back to you. That he will let me be the one you choose time and time again. That he will allow me to be your soul mate for all of time." She confesses to her love stepping forward to Leon as she held her wedding gift to him. "Share one love, one lifetime with me Leon. That's all I ask of you." She whispers to him stepping closer to him. She wore that bright smile that he adored so much; the tears that stung her eyes were bright and full with all the love that she had for him.
-----
Vasilisa looks to her son as she approaches him placing a hand on his shoulder. "Go Mathias. Go find the key to saving your wife and child. I will use my-" She begins to say when Lenora entered the woman; her eyes fixated on Mathias. "Lord Cronqvist. I request you break the seal on my magic. If you do I can prolong Elisabetha's life by one month. I cannot cure her but it will bide us the time you need." She exhales to him as she wore a grim expression on her face. She knew what would come if she did not act now. Vasilisa looks to Mathias with hope in her eyes.
-----
Miriam held onto her beloved with a small smile coming to her lips. "Let's go back to sleep we need the rest." She murmurs pulling him close to her as she nuzzles him; she could feel slumber calling to her once more as she began to drift off in her lover's arms.

| Leon stared at the coat, eyes wide and jaw agape. It was beautiful. And Sara had put everything of her into making it. Leon's heart swelled with adoration. He was in Love with Sara, every part of him. Mind, body and Soul. In his haste, He rushed over to her, pushing the coat to the side and pulling her into his arms. "Oh Sara... My Sara... I love you more than the force of 1000 armies. You ARE my soul, Sara. And I promise. I will wear that beautiful fabric you've crafted for so long as often as possible. I will wear it on our wedding day. I love you, Sara Trantoul and I eagerly await the day you can share my name." He said as he wrapped his arms around her waist and twirled her around, letting out an airy laugh. She was his everything. ------ Elisabetha glanced her weak eyes to her husband, a weak smile coming to her lips, "I... I believe... you, my... Love... Just please don't... work too hard and... get sick yourself..." she said weakly, having to pause every few words to take a slight wheezing breath. He eyes felt heavy, but she forced herself to try and keep her eyes focused on his beautiful face. She knew he would save their child. He was beautiful, determined and intelligent and she thanked God for letting her be in his life. To be his, even for such a brief time. ------- Aleksander frowned slightly and groggily ran his free hand through her blonde locks. Maybe Lord Cronqvist would understand his pupil's need for a short break to sleep. | |

| Mathias's lips pursed into a bigger smile upon seeing her weak smile. Even in her weakness, she still managed to make his heart flutter with that angelic smile of hers. He caressed her hand before leaning in and kissing her forehead lovingly before he returned to the side of the bed to continue to gaze upon her. "I promise."He whispered to her but, he knew he wouldn't rest until a cure was found and she was saved from this fate."I love you, Elisabetha...." He whispered to her, lovingly staring upon her as he awaited her answer before he could go off and start his work.
Mathias turned to hear his mother speak to him, he nodded and went to stand to start upon his work in the lab. He was going to see where Aleksander was with the cure when, Vasilisa was interupted by Lenora. He stared upon hear as she spoke her words before he nodded. If she spoke the truth, a month of life would give him enough time to experiment and find a proper cure in time to save his Elisabetha. "I will do it as long as you keep your word and keep her alive." He said as he reached out and yanked the binding necklace from her neck. He placed it into his pocket before looking to his mother. "Use your magic to aid Lenora. I'll be in the lab and I do not wish to be disturbed unless it is about Elisabetha."He said, glancing to his wife as he blew her a kiss. "I'll visit every night, my love." He uttered before he quickly moved out of the room and to the Alchemist lab.
He moved downstairs, where he would find Aleksander and Miriam fast asleep upon Aleksander's worktable. He decided to leave them be, immediately moving to the bookshelves and pulling the books that would aid him the most. He threw them upon his worktable, flipping a few of them open before going to his ingredient cabinet and pulling ingredients that he swiftly put upon his table as he started preparing the first draft. Silent tears would fall from his eyes as he ground up basilisk scales with his mortar. He seen them drop into the scales, making him raise his arm and wipe them away. God, please... Do not take them from me. Give me the strength to find a cure and save my beloveds He prayed to himself as he tried to get ahold of himself as he prepared the rest of the ingredients for his draft. | |

| The solemn hour has come to light; the final month of Elisabetha's term has reached is peak. She now lies in her deathbed in the house of Cronqvist; no amount of prayers or magical acts can save her now. The church has turned its back on the young lady and the family; they were proclaiming it to be god's decree for her intervention with Lenora's trial. They continue their slander against the family; against Vasilisa saying she truly has condemned the young woman and all who reside in the house for she is the mother of the antichrist. The hour has come; no is prepared for this moment.
----
Vasilisa approaches the dying Elisabetha guilt weighing down her heart; she feels the tears stinging the corner of her eyes as she caresses her cheeks. "Elisabetha. Elisabetha; can you hear me. Surely you know that we have done everything we could for you. But please; listen to me. Allow me one final attempt to save your child. If we can spare the child so Mathias has at least a part of you left would you want that?" She whispers to her daughter in law with the tears pouring down her cheeks; she hated this. She wanted to save both of them; but she knew now at this point only one could be saved. If perhaps she can save the child Elisabetha could die in mild peace knowing that her child was saved and spared death.
Grimm watched from within the shadows with a grim frown pursed to his pale features; he watched the scene unfold feeling mild hatred rise in his unbeating heart. Oh how he wanted to curse out god for his cruelty; why did he have to do this? He closes his eyes turning away from the mother in law and daughter in law. If god weren't so cruel then this woman could live. But no he knew now that this was fate's decree; not even his warnings could have spared her life.
----
Miriam sat on the cobblestone floor in Aleksander's bedroom sobbing pitifully; her heart was about to rupture from the paint. The loss she knew she would be feeling; it was something she wanted to disappear. She nearly jumps at her beloved's touch; she looks to him as the pain outweighed every emotion. "A-Aleksander...." | |

| Elisabetha heard a voice from the side of her. It sounded like the Lady Vasillisa. The words her mother had said… No, not her mother… Her mother-in-law… This beautiful and generous woman was her beloved Mathias’s mother. The words blurred together in her foggy mind. She no longer had the strength to reach for the woman, only able to open her slightly clouded eyes to the woman. She wanted to thank Vasilisa for birthing such a man as Mathias. He was intelligent, beautiful and kind. His pure soul and clear mind were the things that Elisabetha fell for first. His amazing beauty had caught her breath at their first meeting, his piercing blue eyes flooded her dreams for many dream filled nights for weeks after meeting him. There was so much she wanted to say to Vasilisa. To Miriam and Aleksander. To Lenora. To her dearest Sara and her own betrothed. To the love of her own short life.
A small and pained sound came from her throat. She could barely move and she could barely form words. Still she would try, so she would have the strength to say her final goodbyes to Mathias. ”Yes… For…. Mathias… My… Mathias…” she said weakly. Where was her Mathias? Would she see him before the light came and claimed her?
Tears formed in his own blue eyes. Death was coming over her quickly. She could no longer wipe her own tears away. She wanted to feel Mathias’s warm hands in her own hands growing cold. She wanted to tell him it was alright. That she wanted for him to live what life he had and to be happy. That she would love him for all of time. She wanted nothing more than his happiness. She wanted to tell him all of her fears and all of her wishes for him. Too many words… And too little breath…
------
Aleksander tried desperately to hold back a sob himself. He knew what this would do to Lord Cronqvist. But he was seeing what this was doing to his Miriam. And that perhaps broke him down more than anything else. Miriam had become close to Lady Cronqvist over the years and this was like a part of her was dying as well. He cursed himself internally. Despite countless hours worked and days of starving himself afraid to waste any precious time had been for nothing. Nothing he found worked. His elixir had spoiled when he tried to increase it’s potency. He wrapped his arms around Miriam, but knew not of what to say. He buried his face into her blonde hair, his own black hair falling disheveled around her own shoulders. His tears fell into Miriam’s hair. Things were going to change, quickly and drastically. And Aleksander only hoped that he could hold onto the coattails of change to support his Lord in whatever way he could.

| With her daughter's blessing Vasilisa immediately went to work to try and save the child within the womb; Lenora stood at Lady Elisabetha's side using her magic to prolong Elisabetha's life and give her the strength she needed. Vasilisa was quick to command guards to station themselves at the young lady's door and to not allow entry to anyone. Not even Mathias.
~
The hours would pass since Vasilisa began her attempt to save the child; Elisabetha would hear an infant's cries coming from her mother in law's arms. Vasilisa smiles looking upon her grandson who squirmed in her hold; his wails were the most beautiful thing she ever heard. His eyes reminded her of the calm before a storm over the ocean; the ocean. "Adrian." She whispers softly the name of her grandson. Lenora was quick to snatch the child from Vasilisa where she began to cast healing spells upon the infant; desperate to heal him of any possible illnesses that his mother passed on to him. Vasilisa then swiftly returned to Elisabetha's side taking her beloved daughter in law's hand. "Elisabetha. Elisabetha my child; we succeeded. You have a son. A beautiful son. How does the name Adrian sound?" She exhales brushing back her blond locks from her paled and sweat covered face.
Vasilisa's heart sank when she noted that Elisabetha was only minutes away from death's embrace. Tears stung her frost hues as the river began to flow down her pale cheeks; she races to the door swinging it open and looks to the guards. "Bring Mathias here now. Please, before she passes" she breathes swiftly the one guard departed from his post racing towards the lab where he knew his lord would be; descending down the cobblestone steps he swung open his lord's door. "Lord Mathias! Your wife is close to death; your mother has sent for you to be at her side." He exhales his voice nearly becoming caught in his throat.
---
Grimm slowly approaches Elisabetha with a frown pursing his lips; he looks to her with sadness in his hues. Only she would see him unless he revealed himself to the others. "Elisabetha.... I am so sorry; I tried to spare you. I tried to warn you; so we could prevent this. But alas it seems we couldn't prevent this. God is most certainly cruel. Your passing will cause your husband's undoing...." he whispers taking her hand into his own as he leans into give his lethal kiss to this angel being called away from those who loved her. | |

| Elisabetha’s breaths were short and shaky. Mathias. Where was Mathias? Her beloved Mathias… She wanted to cry out, beg for just a few minutes more, a few minutes to beg Mathias to not let her sudden death consume his life. He deserved to live a life wrought with happiness. It saddened the woman deeply to know that she would not be the one to grant him such a life, but as long as he became happy she would be able to rest in peace.
He heard the stranger’s voice once more and her weak cries escaped her lips. He was a bringer of death, and she had met him first on her wedding day. One what was to be the happiest day of her life she had been visited by an angel of death. And now upon the day of her child’s birth, to hear this stranger’s voice once more… She wished her words would form better. To pray to the Almighty Father that this omen was not meant for her son as well. This boy, her boy, would hopefully save her beloved Mathias from the devil’s taunting. Adrian. His name was Adrian, after the beautiful cerulean ocean. She liked the name. She just wished her eyes would focus so she could see him.

| Calloused fingers desperately fiddled with ampules and vials of all sorts of concoctions. Dark circles had long formed under the Master Alchemist's eyes as his body begged for a rest that was never going to come. Mathias' hands shook as he attempted to pour the ampule's contents into the larger cauldron but, its spastic shaking only caused him to drop the ampule and shatter the glass upon the wooden worktable. A sharp growl escaped his lips as he cursed to himself before swinging his hands out and shoving the damnable thing upon the ground, along with the countless stacked books and failed drafts. Shattering glass and the rustle of papers filling the small area as tears fell from the Alchemist's eyes as he stood his full height and looked to his wasted attempts to bring his Elisabetha to health. He had drained his stores of ingredients dry in the process and had made an outright mess out of his usually organized workspace.
He sighed out, reaching his dirtied hand up to brush away the tears that he has only ever shed when he has been alone. However, despite having wiped those tears away, more fell until he was standing there quietly sobbing. The weakness from his lack of sleep making him fall to his knees as sadness grasped his heart and started it's torturous cruelty of slowly crushing him from within. He tried to will the tears to stop so he could continue with his work but, he knew it would be useless now as his reddened icy eyes looked upon the paperwork he sat in the middle of. His ebony hair was a mess upon his head as several strands poured over his eyes as he blankly looked upon the paperwork around him. "I have failed her..." He said, his deep voice a saddened baritone as the tears continued to pour from his eyes. "I promised her so much and I have failed." He said as he closed his eyes and silently sobbed from where he sat. "Why God... Why do you do this to me?! Why do you hurt the ones I love!" He screamed, surely looking and sounding like a madman to the guard Mathias hadn't even heard come in.
Mathias' reddened eyes looked towards the guard upon hearing his words, the crushing sadness only moving to destroy his heart further as he slowly moved himself to his feet. He moved past the guard without a word, his feet surely only moving my mere muscle memory and the desire to see Elisabetha's smile one last time. If she was to be taken away from him by Death, he wanted to see her smile one last time. He continued forward, out from the lab and getting a hush of silence amongst the servants he passed. He ignored them, moving to the bedroom as he practically slammed the door opened. He looked between Elisabetha and the cries of the infant before he moved to Elisabetha's side and clutched her hand tightly as he laid soft kisses upon her. "My love?... I am here. Mathias is here. Do you hear me?" He sad softly, the tears starting once more as he prayed he had not come to her too late. "Elisabetha?..." | |

| Elisabetha could almost feel the quiet tears start pouring from her eyes. She took up all the strength within her to let her head fall in the direction of her husband's voice. A weak smile worked upon her face as her fading eyes looked upon the blurry image of her beloved. She must gather the strength to tell him of everything. Would he think that the illness had driven her to madness if she told her Mathias that the strange man from their wedding was sharing the air in the room with the small gathering of people?
"M... Mathi..Mathias..." her weak voice whimpered out, "He... He's... Here... I'm so... Sorry, my... Love... I tried so.. hard to be better for... you... Please do not blame... yourself...." She wanted so desperately to clench his hand in hers. But despite her voice and body being weak, at least now she had felt no pain. Her blood filled coughs had ceased at the least.

| Death took a heavy yet needed breath as he passed through the husband to press his lips to Elisabetha's forehead as he places his hand upon her own; he watched as her soul withdraws from her body and took its manifested form. He takes Elisabetha by the hand; he looks into her eyes with sadness. "I am so sorry Elisabetha. Truly I am. I wanted to spare you from this fate; but I guess god truly wants your husband to become the evil in the world. Come it's time for you to pass over my darling." He exhales softly as he watched the scene play out softly; and with that he took away the fair lady from those who loved her most. | |

| Mathias looked into his beloved’s dull eyes. He could see the life escaping them rapidly and it broke his fragile heart to have to witness this. It was happening so slow, so agonizingly slow and he didn’t understand why it had to happen at all. She was such a precious soul, so kind and compassionate towards others that are not as fortunate as she. She had a heart of pure gold and light, yet she was leaving this place in such an agonizingly cruel way. Why was God doing this to her? To him? To their child?! Slowly, his sadness was turning into a rage as he clasped Elisabetha’s chilly hand closer to him. He didn’t want to let her go but, he knew he would have to eventually and that hurt him. It caused more tears to fall from his bed-ridden eyes as he continued to look at his Elisabetha. What would he do without her? She kept him strong and out of the darkness he had felt when he was a younger lad. She kept him from getting brutal and realize that his damaged heart held compassion within it. She kept she cruelty away yet, he felt that in this vulnerable, his darkness was returning to him.
“He…?” Mathias question before his lips formed a deep frown as he realized who she spoke of. That stranger man that reeked of death. A man that Mathias realized was Death, considering how his beloved spoke and the fact she was the only one able to see him. Death was only visible to the ones who he had come to collect, after all. A lump grew in his throat upon hearing her further words, shaking his head as he continued to grasp her hand. “You were perfect, Elisabetha. You could not have been better for me. I… I just wish I could have stopped this. All of this…. I promised you. I promised to keep you safe and I failed. I curse myself for not remaining by your side to catch this illness sooner. Perhaps, then I could have saved you…” He sobbed to her as he looked upon her with deep sadness. “Elisabetha… I love you so much. Through this life and the next, I’ll always love you and only you. Your heart belong to me as mine belongs to you. Forever…” He uttered, watching her as her eyes lost all life they had with his last words before he watched her grow limp upon the bed. He crumpled into himself then, his face falling upon the satin sheets as he sobbed his sadness into the covering. “My Elisabetha…” --- At the funeral Mathias, dressed in pure dark clothing with the only color being from the Crimson Stone that laid around his neck, looked upon his beloved’s grave in silence. It had been long since the services had finished up but, he was having a hard time removing himself from his beloved, even now. A few of the clergymen still remained with the main priest looking upon Mathias as he awaited to approach the grieving Lord. Eventually, the priest would speak up with a voice full of emotionless monotone that had Mathias’ fists clench further than they were already doing. “Lord Cronqvist? We have unfortunate news to report to you. Because your beloved’s previous attempts against Church ruling, we believe her death was a curse by God for interfering.” Mathias turned his head slowly to face the man, staying silent but, that silence was the scariest part of his expression.
What was this man getting at? And how could he say it the way he was? Did he not care how Elisabetha had suffered? How Mathias had suffered to have to go through losing her? “Therefore, I have the gravest belief that she will be refused to enter the gates of Heaven. Even despite our prayers, God will likely not accept her into his embrace. It is a mighty punishment but-“ The priest continued until Mathias narrowed his gaze as he approached him and grasped the priest by his neck. The other clergymen gasped but, Mathias ignored them as he started to crush the other’s neck. “But what?! She deserved it? No, she did not deserve this!! She was an angel, a woman whose heart was full of light and yet your God took her away from me! If anyone deserves death or to burn in Lucifer’s domain, it is you!” He screamed before he roughly shoved the other upon the ground, the priest coughing as he attempted to regain his breath as he crossed his fingers over himself and uttered a prayer.
“You are the Devil’s kin! We should have killed you when we had the chance.” He hissed, only infuriating Mathias further as he unsheathed his knife and moved towards the priests. “Leave! Get out of my sight or shall burn you like you burn your witches?!” He screamed, walking after them as they scampered away before he turned back to his beloved grave, collapsing at the tombstone as he caressed the words that reflected his wife’s name. He would notice a shift of the wind behind him and the appearance of the stranger that had taken his wife away from him.

| The young brunette stood beside the young baron adorned in ebony; her eyes were reddened from the tears that refused to stop until they had ran dry. Her fingers were interlaced with Leon's as her brows knitted together; how did this happen? Elisabetha had been such a healthy woman, so how could pestilence claim such an angel so swiftly. But everyone had tried what they could to save her; but to no avail. Not even Mathias. Sara, had lost her dearest friend and it pained her so much. She turns into Leon seeking his embrace; she wraps her arms around him and began to weep. "Oh Leon..... Why...." She whimpers; she wanted to shed the tears but they wouldn't. So she clung to her beloved. "Leon... Can we go home...." She whispers with sadness tugging at her heart.
Miriam stood towards the back of the funeral away from the young lady's grave; the tears had long since stopped flowing and her heart felt nothing but pain. She had failed her lady as well as her lord; she could not protect Elisabetha. Could not defend her from death's cold embrace; she watched as others began to disperse murmuring among themselves gossiping about what had just occurred between the clergyman and Lord Cronqvist; she turns to accompany Aleksander back to the castle where Vasilisa remained with the infant child.
--
Grimm looked upon Mathias with his scarlet hues as he folded his hands behind his back; he clears his throat as his eyes then shifted to the grave marker. "She was a beautiful woman. I give you my condolences." He says briefly with a frown coming to his lips; he noted the crimson stone around the man's neck. How did he come to obtain Walter's possession. Grimm felt mildly uneasy with the factor before him; he could sense the young man's soul darkening with hatred. It would appear that this man's descent into damnation could not be prevented; was it really fate's decree to cause chaos and pain. | |

| Leon held Sara close in his arms. He too had cried far too many tears though he was sure that no one but Sara would see them. He nods quietly and pulls his beloved from the graveyard gently. ----- Aleksander had stood quietly during the entire service, his hands clenched so tightly they had been shaking. He was sure if his nails had been just a short bit longer, he would have drawn blood from his palms. He had been so angry at himself. Nothing he tried worked. Not even his elixir worked. He cursed his own inadequacy. Now, his "piece de resistance" was nothing. He had failed.
He had heard the exchange between the clergy and his lord. How dare they accuse him of such an atrocious thing? How dare they accuse Lady Cronqvist of such terrible things? He had half a mind to fight them himself, but he had such little amounts of combat experience that he would surely only make a fool of himself and further disgrace his adopted family's name.
With a sigh and a disgusted look toward the fleeing clergymen, he started off for home, his mind starting to fill with curses for the Almighty Father who dared to stake claim to the beloved wife of his Lord.

| Mathias had paid no mind to the others that had joined him in Elisabetha's services as his mind was diving deep into a place that one such as him should never tread. As he sat in front of the grave, his fingers removed themselves from her beautifully etched name before grasping the deep red stone that he had found in battle several months earlier. Mathias' fingers ran over the smooth gem slowly as he blankly stared at the tombstone. Darkness boiled within his mind as he thought back to the clergymen's' words about his sweet Elisabetha. They were not men of God if they believed that a woman as pure as Elisabetha would burn in the flames of hell for interfering in a simple witch trial. Yes, it had been wrong for her to do so but, she was only doing what her sweet heart wished for her to do. If anything, she should have been seen as a God-sent. An angel gracing this corrupt earth but, those damnable clergymen didn't seem to believe that. Of course, what more should Mathias expect from them? If their Lord truly didn't accept his sweet wife into the gates of Heaven, if their cruel words rang truth... Then, what was the point of fighting for and praising such a cruel deity?
Mathias continued to sit there in silence until he heard a familiar voice that he didn't desire to hear again. His fingers unwrapped from the gem as his head turned to the man that played a deadly part in his wife departure. Death. He dared to stand there with a frown that made Mathias sick. The Alchemist arose to his feet before he quickly punched the other before he grabbed him by the collar of his outfit and slammed him into the tree that overhang Elisabetha's gravestone. Mathias' free hand that was not holding Death against the tree sparked with flames that grew into a deadly inferno as he placed it close to the deity's face. "Your condolences?... Your condolences?! You did this to her! You took her away from me!!" He sneered with pure rage as he brought the sparking flames closer to the other's face, purely intent on killing this man for what he put him through. "Do not act like you cared for her, you heartless cretin!" He screamed as he slammed him into the tree. "Why are you here?! To thrive in what you have caused?! Answer me!" | |

| If he could truly feel pain he would of have winced; a low snarl emanated from Grimm's lips as he was quick in his movement placing Mathias against the tree and pinning him. "Do not blame me for god's cruelty. I warned your wife on her wedding day that she would pass away in a year's time; and to avoid that fate she would need to ensure she did not get sick. But in the end it was unpreventable." He hisses out to Mathias; his eyes glowing with redness. "Do not assume for a moment that I enjoy stealing the lives of innocent beings who want nothing more than to live life to the fullest; to be at the side of those they love, to have their children not taken away from them before they are above knee height!" He snaps slamming Mathias further into the tree his anger rising in his body. "Every day I have to hear the begging prayers of loved ones begging me to spare the lives of those they love and i do not even have a say in the matter. God is the one who decrees this. Not I. I gave my warning, I tried to prevent it. Do not shift the blame onto I when the fault lies in your god." He hisses before vanishing from Mathias's view leaving the man to his anguish and hate. | |

| "That is a farce! All things are preventable! You could have went against his decrees! If you were able to warn her then, you could have stopped him from taking her away from me..." He screamed, feeling himself being pushed into the tree painfully but, not caring about the immense pain that the sharp bark was causing upon his back. He was far too angry to care but, his flames sparking in his hand dispersed when he processed the rest of Death's words as the dark creature vanished from sight. He left Mathias to stand there, tears of sadness and anger falling down his pale cheeks as he placed his head back against the tree and he closed his eyes. Death's words made sense to his heart the more he stood there and thought about them. Death truly had no control when the All-Seeing Father reigned over all. God had the choice over who died and who lived, who entered Heaven and who entered Hell. If Death could have prevented this then, the deity would have likely done it without a second thought. The anger that reflected in Death's eyes had been akin to his own, a frustration over the chain of events that have rocked his life since birth. A frustration over a question that remained unanswered... Why? Why must he live in unending agony?
He finds someone that takes him away from the darkness growing deep within his heart yet, God feels the need to take her right back and torture him with this pain. The one woman that didn't scorn him like the others and God just had to take her away for reasons that frustrated him. What did Mathias do to deserve this? He had remained devout in his beliefs and had even fought for the Lord in the Crusades, yet he rewards him by killing his sweet Elisabetha. Mathias's eyes open quickly, his heart boiling with hatred for the Lord he had sacrificed so much for. He had sacrificed remaining by his wife's side to fight in a war that was meaningless now. How could anyone believe in a diety so cruel and heartless as he? A diety that expects you accept death and move on without a care for what that person meant to you. It was the excuse thos priests used upon grieving widows. He had heard it often during his visits to the Church. The priests telling the grievers that God had chosen their loved ones and that they should be happy that they were now in God's arms. Mathias couldn't believe that. God had something against him, he could feel it in his heart as he thought to the many times in his childhood when he has narrowed escaped death and tortured by the hands of cruel men. When he had been scorned by the local children and called "The Son of the Devil." Dracula. God never helped him when he prayed for his aid and his holy light. He was always left to darkness, something that had greeted him with open arms and warmth that he never got from God.
That thought sparked something within him as those icy blue hues looked to the Church that stood proudly in the distance. Those dull icy hues darkened as they narrowed towards that place of lies. It didn't deserve to stand there and continue to spread its poison in this village any longer. He moved away, looking to Elisabetha's gravestone one last time before uttering his final goodbye. "May you rest in peace, my angel." He whispered to her before he turned away and walked towards the Church, madness and anger swirling through his eyes as he slammed the doors open. The service going on with the high priest that had scorned his wife's passing into Heaven presiding was alerted immediately to his darkening presence as he walked to the atlar. The high priest glared upon Mathias before he looked to the many that were already whispering amongst themselves upon seen Mathias. "Have you come to pray for your forgiveness? Did you realize that your actions from earlier today were unbecoming of such a holy and noble man such as you? God forgives all and I believe he will forgive you when you confess for your sins." The high priest spoke as he watched Mathias, seeing an unnaturally cruel smirk pursing upon his lips. It was a smirk of a madman and it unnerved the priest as he seen Lord Cronqvist move upon the altar. "Even now, you utter lies..." Mathias spoke as he stared the priest down. "These beliefs, the ideas they put into my villagers minds, they are the true sins. How can you stand up here and say that God forgives anyone when they reality is much the opposite." He questioned before he turned to service, eyeing each and every one of them. "He forgives no one, in fact, he happily takes away the ones you love so dear to you. He is cruel and no matter how much you pray to this thankless God, he will still treat you like scum." He sneered to the service before he heard the high priest make a noise in reaction to his proclamation. "You can fight for him, pray daily for him, and will get nothing more than pain in return. This is a sick excuse of a religion that I allow in my village as it hinges on nothing more than lies and false hopes." Mathias continues before he turns to the priest who glares upon the Lord.
"You are the one speaking nothing but lies, Lord Cronqvist. Such words you utter, they are heretical in the house of the Lord!" He said, stepping closer to the other as Mathias let out an amused chuckle at his words. "They are devilish but, what more could be expected from you? You were prohecised to bring the end of the world, to become the Anti-Christ and bring hell on Earth. We had warned your mother but, the she-devil didn't listen. But, look at you now... You are the very epitome of the Anti-Christ!" He sneered at the other with a deepened glare as the men and women within the service gasped. Mathias only continued to smirk at the priest's words, his head tilting to the side until a sharp and long laughter cut into the air. "The Anti-Christ? No, I am far more than that... I am the Son of the Devil. I am... Dracula!" He said, turning to face the villagers as they arose from their seats and looked upon the powerful Alchemist in horror. "I scorn God as He has done me! I condemn him for taking away my angel and putting me into Hell on Earth. I would rather become a Servant of Hell than, believe in such lies!" Mathias yelled, raising his hands up as fire scortched and burned from them as he set the altar aflame. "This place shall burn along with all within it! I will not all for this poison to continue to dement my villagers! I shall release you all to the Lord'smight as you all wish to join him." He exclaimed, willing the flames to spread as he vanished from the Church as it burned, the villagers and priests locked within following suit and leaving no witnesses.
He removed himself from the premises before the crowds gathered and returned to his castle. He didn't speak to any of his servants as they inquired in him, simply removing himself from the happenings of the castle as he went to his Alchemist Lab and research into the special stone around his neck. With Elisabetha's sickness, he had no time to look into the oddities of the stone itself. What he would find would shock and enthrall him, making devilish ideas come to mind the longer he dipped his mind into his readings. He learns that the Stone traps the soul of a powerful vampire and can give its owner an immense amount of power. However, in exchange for this, the bearer can change into a vampire themselves. An immortal being who could live for all eternity. A creature that can beat Death and go against what God's decrees. He thought it would be the ultimate way to scorn God for the death of his beloved and give him the power to destory all that is precious to the cruel Lord, including humanity itself. But first, he needed a powerful vampire to absorb into the Stone and give him the power he craved. He continued to flip through more pages and several books in search of a vampire that would fit for his plans. Eventually, he would find one as a cruel smirk pursed his lips and his fingers traced along the familiar face in the book. Walter Bernhard. A man that was supposed to have died centuries ago in a German war yet, he was still living within the Forest of Eternal Night and having his eyes set upon sweet Sara. An idea came to mind as he shut the book and chuckled to himself. Yes... He'll do nicely~ He thought to himelf as he fingers caressed the Crimson Stone. | |
